How the map narrowed
Survivor's map used to move every year. The first 32 seasons crossed five continents and rarely returned to the same country twice in a row, opening in Malaysia, then Australia, then Kenya in the first three years alone. Fiji made a single early appearance for Survivor 14 in 2007, then production settled there for good: every season from Survivor 33 (2016) through Survivor 50 has filmed in the Mamanuca Islands, 18 consecutive seasons and counting. In total, Fiji has now hosted 19 of the show's 50 seasons, more than a third of the entire series.
Beyond Fiji, only a handful of other countries have hosted Survivor more than once: the Philippines, Samoa, and Nicaragua each four times, Panama three times, and Cambodia, Palau, and Brazil twice each, usually in pairs of consecutive seasons filmed back-to-back at the same camp before production moved on. Production settled permanently in the Mamanuca Islands for cost and logistics: one set, built once and reused, replaced the annual scout for a new camp on a new continent.

Where these location facts come from
Country, region and filming window are decomposed from the community location record for each season, one field at a time; no recap prose is stored or reproduced here. Filming dates are the production window, not the broadcast window, and a season's air date is usually several months later. Where a season moved between camps, the region column lists the islands or provinces the record names rather than a single point.

Frequently asked questions
Where is Survivor filmed?
Every Survivor season since Survivor 33 (Millennials vs. Gen X, 2016) has been filmed in the Mamanuca Islands, Fiji. Across all 50 seasons, the show has filmed in 18 countries on five continents, starting with Pulau Tiga, Malaysia for Survivor 1.
Has Survivor always filmed in Fiji?
No. Fiji first hosted Survivor 14 (Fiji, 2007) as a one-off, then became the show's permanent home starting with Survivor 33 in 2016. Every season from 33 through Survivor 50 has filmed there, 18 consecutive seasons.
How many countries has Survivor filmed in?
18 countries across five continents: Oceania (Fiji, Australia, Vanuatu, the Cook Islands, Palau, Samoa, French Polynesia), Asia (Malaysia, Thailand, China, Cambodia, the Philippines), Central America (Panama, Guatemala, Nicaragua), Africa (Kenya, Gabon), and South America (Brazil).
Why did Survivor stop moving locations every season?
Production settled permanently in Fiji's Mamanuca Islands beginning with Survivor 33 for cost and logistics: a fixed set built once and reused season after season replaced the earlier practice of scouting and building a new camp on a new continent almost every year.
